Seedco has been awarded a $2.5-million renewal from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services/Administration for Children and Families to continue its Strong Fathers, Stronger Families program, which helps low-income fathers in New York City enter and succeed in the workforce while having a positive impact on the lives of their children and maintaining healthy relationships with their children’s other parent.

“Economic stability, responsible parenting, and healthy relationships are closely interrelated,” said Seedco President and CEO Barbara Dwyer Gunn. “We look forward to a successful second year of helping fathers find work and develop closer relationships with their children.”

Strong Fathers, Stronger Families offers a comprehensive set of services to help participants address significant barriers to employment and responsible parenting, encourage payment of child support, and facilitate enrollment in income-enhancing benefits that support household and career stability. Partners in the project include St. Nicholas Neighborhood Preservation Corporation (St. Nicks), BronxWorks, Northern Manhattan Improvement Corporation (NMIC), and STRIVE.

These services are available to all eligible persons, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, or religion.

Funding for this project is provided by the United States Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families: Grant 90FK0040-01-00
