The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Family Assistance has awarded Seedco $10 million over 5 years to continue its Strong Fathers, Stronger Families Program, which Seedco has operated since 2011. Working with our community-based partners STRIVE and BronxWorks, the program will help even more low-income fathers in New York City enter and succeed in the workforce while developing closer relationships with their children and partners. The program has already served nearly 4,000 low-income fathers in New York City. Strong Fathers, Stronger Families provides fathers with job preparation, placement assistance, and help with career advancement. At the same time, the program supports fathers in the process of building stronger, more meaningful relationships with their children, co-parents, and partners. Working with our evaluation partner, the Urban Institute, this five-year grant will include a rigorous, randomized controlled trial evaluation of the impact of intensive post-employment support services for individuals and families in need. Seedco is thrilled to be continuing this important work with non-custodial fathers in New York City.
