On Saturday, June 7, 2014, Seedco’s Strong Fathers, Stronger Families program hosted a pre-Father’s Day Healthy Living event in DeWitt Clinton Park in New York City. The event brought out over 33 fathers (86 total with family), who were able to receive valuable information on nutrition, physical fitness, SNAP benefits, health insurance and more.

Highlights

• 13 fathers signed up for appointments with EarnBenefits Online/SNAP (food assistance)
• 18 fathers spoke with a NY Navigator about health care options
• Cornell University Cooperative Extension NYC Community Educators conducted on-on-one nutrition and healthy living education sessions

While in attendance, guests had lunch provided by Subway, played basketball, wrote suggestions on a parenting tips board and entered a raffle to win prizes that included an American Crew gift set, dinner and a movie and Daddy & Co. care packages. The guests also walked away with a grab bag filled with gifts from Vita Coco,  KIND, NY Knicks, NY Rangers and Men’s Health.
