In June 2018, Seedco was awarded $6 million in new funding from the U.S. Department of Labor’s (USDOL) Re-Entry Employment Opportunity Program to serve a total of 760 justice-involved individuals in four states: New York, Arkansas, Tennessee and Maryland. The programs will launch in July 2018 and operate through 2021. Seedco was awarded $4,358,210 to serve 570 justice-involved young adults ages 18 to 24 in West Baltimore, MD; South Bronx, NY; Memphis, TN; and West Memphis, AR and $1,496,779 to serve 190 justice-involved adults in Memphis, TN and West Memphis, AR. This funding builds on Seedco’s three current re-entry programs in Memphis and Baltimore funded by the U.S. Department of Labor.Learn More
In 2016, Seedco and our partner Bon Secours Community Works launched the West Baltimore Career Pathways Collaborative (WBCPC). Funded by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), the program is designed to improve long-term employment and reduce recidivism among West Baltimore’s returning citizens who are nearing release from prison or home confinement. The state of Maryland just released their draft State Workforce Plan, which highlights the WBCPC as a key “example of Maryland’s efforts to integrate Career Pathways programming.” Pages 21 and 69-71 of the plan provide more details. Congressman Steny Hoyer Visits Seedco Navigators To Discuss the 2018 Open Enrollment Season

Seedco Expands Health Care Access Efforts in Maryland
August 29, 2017In July 2017, Seedco was awarded a $519,000 grant by the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange to expand its valuable work providing consumer healthcare access to Maryland residents. The new grant expands Seedco’s service area from the seven counties of the Upper Eastern Shore to include three additional counties considered to make up the Southern Maryland Region. These counties are Charles, Calvert and St. Mary’s. Seedco now operates in ten counties and provides health care enrollment services in two of the program’s eight regions.Learn More
