Seedco Launches New Approach to Engage and Serve Low-Income Fathers and Their Children
November 26, 2017Seedco’s Strong Fathers, Stronger Families program is implementing the Building Bridges and Bonds (B3) study, a partnership with MDRC, and the Administration for Children and Families’ Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Using a randomized control trial (RCT) design, B3 is designed to test innovative and evidence-informed approaches about the most effective ways to engage fathers and help them become increasingly self-sufficient and responsible parents. Seedco Expands Health Care Access Efforts in Maryland
August 29, 2017In July 2017, Seedco was awarded a $519,000 grant by the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange to expand its valuable work providing consumer healthcare access to Maryland residents. The new grant expands Seedco’s service area from the seven counties of the Upper Eastern Shore to include three additional counties considered to make up the Southern Maryland Region. These counties are Charles, Calvert and St. Mary’s. Seedco now operates in ten counties and provides health care enrollment services in two of the program’s eight regions.Learn More
Baltimore Sun: Significant Decline in Uninsured Residents of Maryland’s Eastern Shore Region
August 29, 2017An August 27 Baltimore Sun article details how Maryland’s rural Eastern Shore region has seen a major decline in the share of residents without health coverage. From 2013 to 2015, the number of residents lacking health coverage in one Congressional district dropped by 54% – the largest decrease in the state. Seedco Awarded $1.48 Million from U.S. Dept. of Labor to Serve Justice-Involved Young Adults in Memphis
June 30, 2017Seedco’s Mid-South office in Memphis, TN was awarded $1,480,000 from the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL)’s Reentry Project grant program to improve employment opportunities for justice-involved young adults in Memphis. This program will build on Seedco’s two existing USDOL grants serving individuals with a history of criminal justice involvement, in both Memphis and Baltimore, as well as Seedco’s programs serving out-of-school youth funded by the Memphis Workforce Investment Network.Learn More
